The K-Kids club is a student led community service club that is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Greater Parsippany. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Every day, Kiwanians around the globe make a difference by revitalizing neighborhoods, organizing
youth-sports programs, planting trees, erecting playgrounds, and performing countless other projects to
help children and communities. “The adult and youth members of Kiwanis in communities like Greater Parsippany prove that one person’s actions of kindness are enough to make a significant impact on entire communities,” said Steve Siemens, Kiwanis International President.
The K-Kids club operates under school regulations and is membership is offered to all 4th and 5th grade students. |
| The K-Kids' Pledge
"As a K-Kid, I promise to serve my neighborhood and my school; I will show respect toward my environment; and I will try to make the world a better place in which to live." |
The K-Kids' Objective
- To provide opportunities for working together in service to school and community.
- To develop leadership potential.
- To foster the development of strong moral character.
- To encourage loyalty to school, community, and nation.

PENNIES FOR PATIENTS
The K-Kids collect pennies, nickels , dimes and quarters from each Eastlake classroom in February. The funds collected benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Leukemia is the number one disease killer of children 2 to 15. The idea of children helping other children is what makes this program so extraordinary. In addition to supporting the financial cause, PENNIES FOR PATIENTS is an excellent way for our children to participate in a successful community service effort.
UNICEF
While the K-Kids are Trick-or-Treating they are also collecting money for UNICEF.
The United Nations Children's Fund "UNICEF" supports child survival, development and protection worldwide through education, advocacy and fundraising.
Animal Shelter
The K-Kids run a collection drive for animal products like pet food, dog chews, cat litter, paper towels and old towels or blankets used for bedding that are then donated to a local animal shelter.
Toys for Tots
The K-Kids collect new toys that are distributed to local children who would otherwise not receive a gift during the holidays. Food Drive
In January the K-Kids coordinate a collection drive for canned goods. Soups, canned food, peanut butter and pasta are collected from the many generous Eastlake students.
Valentine Rose Bud Sale
Eastlake always loves the annual Valentine Rosebud Sale. Chocolate kisses are craftily wrapped to look like a rose bud. Give a rosebud you your favorite valentine! |
School Supply Sale
K-Kids sell pencils, erasers, etc. throughout the year to raise money for their craft days and supplies for nursing home visits.
Clean the School Grounds
K-Kids really know how to clean up Eastlake! They spend a day in the spring volunteering to clean up the school grounds.
Craft Day
K-Kids create craft projects that are delivered to senior citizen centers and homeless shelters. These craft projects brighten the day of everyone who receives them.
Nursing Home Visits
Several times a year the K-Kids visit local senior citizen centers to spend time with the elderly patients. They complete crafts together and tell each other stories. Young and old alike benefit from these visits.
Kiwanis Family Night
The kids really enjoy meeting the Kiwanis Club members who are making a difference in Parsippany. The children have an opportunity to display projects they have made and their scrapbook showcasing all their community involvement. They also enjoy telling other K-Kids groups in Parsippany about their activities.
Scrapbook Committee
This crafty bunch helps to document all of the wonderful K-Kids activities throughout the year.
Collection Committee
These volunteers go from class to class collecting the many goods brought in by very generous Eastlake families (Flip Tops, canned goods, animal products, Toys for Tots, etc.)
Poster Committee
Like drawing posters? This is the committee for you! Let everyone at Eastlake know what supplies are on sale or that the food drive is coming. |
