ART NEWS ~ AUTUMN 2010

Hooray!  It’s our COLOR UNIT and we’re painting!

This Autumn, in the Art Room, all classes are being inspired by the vibrant, lively artwork of painters who lived and studied in Paris, France.

First, we’re observing still life and landscape reproductions by Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Cezanne, Henri Matisse, and Marc Chagall. Next, we’re sharing ideas about technique, brush strokes, color, and composition.  Then, all students are creating their own, beautiful paintings.
All through the unit, we’ll be critiquing our work with discussions, sketches, and writing.

As in the past, all students should wear a smock to protect their clothing while using art supplies.  An OLD, large t-shirt or button-down shirt works best.  Aprons are OK, too.

Enjoy the beautiful COLORS of the season!
