Science:
In science the students in Mrs. Glodek's and Mrs. Staples's classes have studied different body systems. They enjoyed discovering the wonders of the Circulatory, Digestive, Respiratory, and Excretory Systems. Mrs. McCotter's class is finishing up the electricity unit. In the last marking period, each class will complete their remaining unit
Math:
We have finished our Number Sense Unit. Currently, we are studying fractions. We also continue our problem solving skills with the 4-step solving method.
Social Studies:
Throughout the year, we continue to study the geography of the United States. As we finish Westward Expansion, we will begin studying the Civil War and then move into the Twentieth Century. Our Ellis Island field trip is scheduled for May 23rd.
Language Arts:
Each class enjoyed reading their novels! We have also been continuing the Language Arts Series. The students are continually working on reading strategies, literary elements, and improving comprehension.
Just a reminder to all fifth graders: The rest of the year can be filled with fun and rewarding experiences. You must earn these things by continuing to become more responsible by being prepared for class and always trying your hardest.
