Spring 2011!
~ Here are some of the fun things we will be doing in our classes during the spring months.
Language Arts:
We will continue to working on blending letter sounds in both reading and spelling. We will be learning about short vowels, long vowels, and r-controlled vowels. Our reading themes will be "Treasures, and Great Ideas." You'll be getting new lists of reading words for each new theme. Make sure to practice those words everyday. It's always fun to read; so read a lot at home!
Math:
In math, we will continue to work with addition and subtraction strategies, problem solving strategies, geometry, money, time, and shapes. We'll be learning strategies to help us remember our facts.
Science:
We will be studying plants and animals. We will observe various plants and understand what they need in order to survive. We will learn about the types of animals, their shelters, and life cycles.
Social Studies:
We will work with character education and map skills during social studies. We will also learn about United States symbols.
First graders will be going to Green Meadows Farm in May.
We will visit the Mt. Tabor Library in June and get library cards if we don't have one already.
