Rhonda Pritchard - Spanish
Señora Rhonda Pritchard has been a Spanish teacher at Parsippany Hills since 2002. In addition to her teaching duties, she enjoys being the advisor of the Asian American Club. She grew up in the New Orleans area and earned her bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. A proud resident of the Garden State for over twenty years now, Sra. Brock-Pritchard enjoys spending time with her husband, her two children and her Westie, Peaches. Travel, domestic and international, is a big interest in her household. |
Ellen Dores – Spanish and Italian
Mrs. Dores has taught Spanish and Italian in the Parsippany-Troy Hills
district for 35 years at the high school, middle school and fifth grade
levels. She has a B.A. in Spanish and Italian from Montclair State
University and also a Master of Arts Degree in Spanish from Montclair State University. She lives with her husband and has two sons currently attending NJIT. |

Pia Gárate-Gómez – French and Spanish
Mrs. Garate-Gomez is originally from Chile. She is starting her sixteenth year of teaching at PHHS. She previously taught in the Teaneck school district. She has an MAT from Fairleigh Dickinson University, with a concentration in ESL. She has a BA from State University of New York at Albany with a major in French Literature and Minor in German. As an undergraduate at SUNY-Albany, she also completed an intensive French Language Summer Program at Université Laval in Québec, Canada, and a French Civilization and Literature Semester Program at La Sorbonne in Paris, France. She also completed several Spanish Literature courses while at SUNY-Albany and obtained Spanish Language credits at New York University. Before teaching, Mrs. Garate-Gomez worked for nearly ten years in both the U.S., and Chile, mainly in import-export, electronics, and television. She is advisor of the French Honor Society and French Club at PHHS. She also enjoys music, traveling, and reading. She lives in Bergen County with her family. |
Vita Morales – Italian and Spanish
Mrs. Morales has a BA in Italian Literature from Rutgers University, an MA in Theater and Film from Hunter College and an MS in education from Fordham University. She started teaching late in life after a long career as a legal proofreader and translator. She has written 17 plays some of which have been staged in New York City. She taught ESL and Spanish at Warren Hills Reg. High School for seven years and now teaches Italian at Parsippany Hills High School. She has taught Italian at CCM as an adjunct professor and every summer takes groups of high school students to Italy through the Overseas Council of Education (Cool-ed). In 1999, she moved to rural Warren County, New Jersey, from midtown Manhattan with her husband Guillermo and last of four children, Maximilian. Mrs. Morales is the advisor of the Italian Honor Society at PHHS. |

Vicky Santana – Spanish
Señora Santana serves as Lead Teacher of the department and is in her third year at PHHS, where she is also the advisor of the Spanish Club. Señora Santana graduated from Montclair State University where she was president of the Spanish Honor Society. She graduated with a B.A. in Spanish Education. She is a member of ACTFL- The American Council of the Teaching of Foreign Languages and FLENJ- Foreign Language Educators of NJ. Señora Santana loves spending time with her husband, three children and her dog Lukey. She enjoys great food and traveling to new places. |

* The Italian Club at PHHS is not a language club and is not part of the World Language Department. The World Language Department does have, however, The Italian Honor Society whose advisor is Mrs. Morales. |

World Language Week takes place in March. All three languages present to the school the importance of each language in the U.S. and the world. Students of all three languages decorate the school, label places around the school, and offer special menus in the cafeteria. Students of all three languages participate in a Trivia Contest and Poster Contest. Prizes are given to 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners. The winning poster is brought to the FLENJ Spring Conference to represent our school. |
World Language Induction Ceremony |
The World Language National Honor Societies of Parsippany Hills High School cordially invite parents and friends to the ceremony, which takes place during the third week of May. New students will be inducted into the Honor Societies provided that they meet the criteria mentioned in the World Language Honor Societies section. The inductees for each Society will recite their motto during the candle ceremony. In addition, we will present honor cords to our Seniors who have continued their language study maintaining high standards of these societies. |

-Italian: Green, white, red
-French: Blue, white, red
-Spanish: Red and gold
