Meet the World Language Department

   

Lead Teacher

Mrs. Damaris Delgado is a Spanish teacher at PHS, where she now serves as advisor of the Spanish Club and as lead teacher for the department. Mrs. Delgado is originally from Puerto Rico. She graduated from Montclair State University with a B.A. in Spanish Education and a concentration in Translation. Mrs. Delgado enjoys spending time with her family in NJ and in Puerto Rico, traveling, cooking and seeing her students enjoy learning a second language. She is happily married and has a wonderful daughter, Raquelita, and a joyful son, Jacob.

Mr. Jay Duhl is in his fourteenth year at PHS, where he teaches Spanish and serves as advisor to the Spanish Honor Society. Mr. Duhl previously had careers in public relations and the restaurant industry. He is a graduate of Rutgers University and holds a Masters of Arts degree in Spanish from Middlebury College. Mr. Duhl is also president of the New Jersey chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. He is the organizer of the student exchange program between PHS and Palencia, Spain, an ACTFL certified Oral Proficiency Interviewer (OPI) and a reader/trainer of the AP Spanish Exams for the College Board. He enjoys long distance running, cooking and hiking.

Mrs. Susana Plotquin is a Spanish teacher at PHS, where she also serves as advisor to the Latin American Club and the African American Club. She is originally from Argentina. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Argentina, and her Master’s degree at Rutgers University. She taught music and Spanish for over 20 years. She enjoys spending time with her family in the US and in Argentina and she loves to dance. Mrs. Plotquin has two daughters, Florence and Sabrina, a son in law, Chris, and a grandson, Noah.

Ms. Rosebella Lopes is in her sixth year at PHS, where she teaches Spanish and serves as an advisor of the Spanish Club. She is a graduate from Montclair State University with a B.A. in Spanish and a minor in Italian. She is a member of the New Jersey chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. She enjoys traveling, reading, listening to music and spending time with her family and friends. She is a delightful person and very pleased to be working for PHS.

Carolina Cabezas is in her seventh year at PHS, where she teaches Spanish and coaches cheerleading.  She graduated from West Virginia University and enjoys watching Mountaineer football.  Some of her hobbies include snowboarding, running, and traveling. 

Mrs. Marissa Parrotta is in her eleventh year at PHS. She’s originally from Italy and has a restaurant in Parsippany for over 20 years. She teaches both Italian and Spanish. Mrs. Parrotta is a graduate of Caldwell College and holds a Master Degree in Art Education and Counseling from Seton Hall University. She’s a member of ITANJ and the New Jersey Institute of Italian American Heritage Studies, the International Geneva Association and Unico National. Mrs. Parrotta enjoys the arts, music, cooking and traveling throughout Italy.

 

Mr. Sean Quinn, Spanish teacher at Parsippany High School. He taught Spanish in Alexandria and Holland Townships for three and a half years. He is a graduate from The College of New Jersey with a Bachelors of Science and is certified to teach Spanish grades K-12. He enjoys running and is currently training for the Hartford Marathon in Connecticut on October 15.

 

Mrs. Lori Savarese is in her third year at PHS teaching ESL and her sixth year in education.  She completed her BA at North Carolina State University and attended Montclair State University for her graduate studies in Linguistics.  She is married with four children; Steven, Sydnie, Rylie and Addison.  She enjoys all outdoor activities related to fitness.

Angela Norton
She was born and raised in Italy. She moved to the USA seven years ago. She is dual certified in Spanish and Italian. She holds a Master in Languages and Foreign literatures from the University of Salerno (Italy) and a second Master in Bilingual Education from the University of Salamanca (Spain).  She is a member of the ITANJ and AATI and serves an advisor of the Italian Club and Italian Honors Society. This is her fourth year in the Parsippany district. She enjoys spending time with my family and friends in Italy and here in NJ, traveling, listening to music and soccer.

Monsieur Mickey Cassu is in his fourth year at PHS and his eighteenth year in education. He is teaching French and is advisor to the French Club and the French Honor Society. He has a B.A. in French Education from the University of Delaware, an M.A. in French from Middlebury College and an M.A. in School Administration from Kean University. He has taught languages at all levels with his most recent college experience at Fairleigh Dickinson University and Middlebury College. He is married with two children, Sebastien and Alexandra. He enjoys traveling, spending time with his family and competing in the sport of Triathlon, in 2012 he will be competing in the Ironman Triathlon in Lake Placid, NY.
