Outlook Web Access Tutorial

Logging in to district e-mail requires only your username and password from any location, whether in district or out of district. Please check the letter you received for your username (some usernames changed) and new password.

If you have misplaced your login information, you may contact your building principal to obtain that information again. If you never received a letter providing you with a new password, please contact the Data Center (973-263-7001 ext 3042) to request that information.

Once you have logged in with your new user ID and password, you may change your password. Passwords may be changed using Outlook Web Access by going to Options and then choosing change password. If you change your password please be aware that your new password must meet complexity requirements and must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Not contain the user's account name or parts of the user's full name (display name) that exceed two consecutive characters
  • Be at least seven characters in length
  • Contain characters from three of the following four categories:
    • English uppercase characters (A through Z)
    • English lowercase characters (a through z)
    • Base 10 digits (0 through 9)
    • Non-alphabetic characters (for example, !, $, #, %)

Please be aware that you must be responsible for remembering your new password, as there will not be a record of any passwords that have been changed. Contact your building computer tech if you are unable to access your email.

When you log in to Outlook Web Access, you will have a choice of selecting public or private computer. You should select public if you are using a computer in a classroom that other people use, because it will automatically log you off in 15 minutes. You should choose private if you are using a computer at your desk that generally only you use. Choosing private will keep you logged in for 8 hours if you do not log off yourself.

Do not check Use Web Access Lite, as this will give you less features. Browsers other than Internet Explorer using Windows 2000, XP or Vista, such as Firefox, Safari and Netscape, will automatically give you the lite version.
