State Assessment Information & HSPA Assistance

General Information about State Assessments:
The High School Proficiency Assessment is a test of skills in Mathematics and Language Arts Literacy.   Proficiency on this test must be proven in order to graduate.  The End Of Course Exams are to assess the skills taught specifically in that level of the course.  All student scores are reported individually and kept in students’ permanent records.  These exams are graduation requirements for the 2010-2011 school year.

Teachers at PHHS work together to prepare students for the tests throughout the year.  Information regarding state assessment administration is made available to students and parents through classroom teachers, guidance counselors and through the building testing coordinator, Kristen Coughlin. Approximately 93% of PHHS students are proficient or advanced proficient on the sections of the HSPA.  Please feel free to contact your child’s teachers, counselor, or the testing coordinator at any time if you have questions or concerns about the statewide assessments.
