I would like to welcome you to the Parsippany Parents for the Gifted & Talented website and familiarize you with the organization, its activities and goals.  The PGT is an organization of parents, teachers and administrators in Parsippany dedicated to the special needs of the children enrolled in the GRO (Gifted Reach Out) Program.  The PGT serves as a direct link between you and the GRO Program.  As the new school year ushers in, the PGT would like to make some positive changes to the PGT program and its goals.

  • For the PGT to continue as an advocate for all GRO students, we are seeking to improve PGT membership and membership participation within the GRO Program and PGT.  We had a great number of volunteers in past years and need your help again this year in order to offer these events to our children.

  • The PGT will continue to support the GRO Program and many of its activities throughout the school year.  Through membership funds we will provide the GRO program with the support they need to provide field trips, sponsorship for events workshops and programs for the children, and teaching materials for the classrooms.

  • We will continue to hold PGT Information Sessions that will include speakers from various organizations to discuss and answer questions about our gifted and talented children and their education.  We anticipate having a range of events, some repeated from last year and some new. If you have a suggestion for an information session, please email us.

  • We will hold our Gifted Fair in February, which will include vendors from the area that provide programs for gifted and talented children.

  • The field trips were very successful last year, so we are looking to offer more Field Trips as an extracurricular activity to enhance the GRO learning experience.  Please feel free to share ideas or information on potential trips!

  • The PGT will continue to offer a Book Club for GRO students in 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th grades.  We are currently looking for someone to host the 2nd & 3rd grade book club.  Please let us know if you are interested.

  • The PGT is also committed to maintaining our Scholarship Program that awards a scholarship to two graduating seniors (one at each of the two district high schools) who were earlier enrolled in the district√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s elementary schools as GRO students.

  • The PGT sponsors a picnic for all GRO students, their families and GRO teachers each June.

  • PGT members and office bearers regularly hold meetings. A representative from the school board as well as a GRO teacher would also participate in the meetings.

  •  All PGT Members are always welcome at all the meetings and activities.

The PGT encourages you to become a PGT Member. The Membership Form can be found on our website.  Your membership dues and your generous donations provide the funding we need to help support the GRO Program and for our activities and scholarships.

Please do not hesitate to contact the PGT or your PGT School Representative with any questions and/or suggestions.

We look forward to serving the GRO program and our students throughout this school year.
