SKIP Registration – 2020-2021 School Year

Special Message for our Returning and New SKIP Families:

We hope you are enjoying your summer and getting excited for a new school year.

Based on the information we have today, and the reopening plan put forth by the Administration, we are planning to offer both before care and after care services at the Elementary School level this fall. We are currently working with the Principals at each school to determine logistics and, once everything has been finalized, we will open registration.

Similar to our schools, SKIP will not look or operate in the same way as it has in the past. This is due to the safety regulations we need to follow to maintain a safe environment for our students and staff. However, as you know, we are fortunate enough to have an amazing and creative group of SKIP Teachers and SKIP Aides to help make our new SKIP model the best experience it can be for our families.

We will continue to partner with the Administration to monitor any changes for reopening and adjust our plans if necessary.

Below I have provided answers to some frequently asked questions. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact our office directly for answers.

We appreciate your patience and partnership as we work out all the necessary details.

Frequently Asked Questions
  1. Who can use SKIP services? Children who are attending in-person instruction at the Elementary Schools can sign up for before and/or after care through the SKIP Program. SKIP is only available to those children who are attending school that week.
  2. When will SKIP begin? Although schools are starting during the first week of September, SKIP will begin on Tuesday, September 8th.
  3. What is the cost of SKIP Services this year? Since students will only be attending 2 weeks out of the month on average, the monthly cost of SKIP will be discounted. We are currently finalizing costs and will publish these prices when we open registration in the coming days.
  4. What will SKIP look like this year? The SKIP program is following the same regulations established for the schools and for childcare centers. Children will be put in groups of 10 with 1 or 2 staff members responsible for each group. Groups must be 10 feet apart from one another so SKIP may take place in a large space like the gym or groups will be in individual classrooms. Where possible, we will divide the students by grade level.
  5. What will my child be doing during their time at SKIP? In both AM and PM SKIP, students will be engaged in social distance play. Unfortunately, under the current regulations, children cannot share supplies or toys. We also will not be able to use the playgrounds. Although we are experiencing some limitations, our SKIP Teachers and SKIP Aides are prepared to lead safe and fun activities both in the classroom and on the black tops.
  6. When can I register my child for SKIP? Registration will be open shortly. We need to put the final touches on some logistics before we can begin sign ups. Please check our website frequently for updated registration information.
