Parsippany High School Academic Decathlon National Competition
Parsippany, NJ - May 5, 2016­ Academic Decathlon (AcDec) State Champions, Parsippany High School, recently participated in the National Competition in Anchorage, Alaska. Academic Decathlon is a 10 ­event scholastic competition for high school students. The events include math, science, social science, literature, economics, art, music, speech, essay and interview. This year’s theme was India. 
At the National Competition Parsippany High School earned six medals. Bronze Medal winners included Anne Cheng (Senior) for Essay, Miki Hansen (Junior) for Music and Will Chen (Junior) for Speech. Nikita Kolotov (Senior) earned a Silver Medal in Economics. Katherine Yang and Rohan Khajuria both earned Gold Medals in Essay and Mathematics respectively. 

Forty-eight teams from the United States, China, United Kingdom and Canada participated in the AcDec National Competition in Anchorage, Alaska from April 28 ­ 30, 2016. Parsippany High School earned the title of State Champion in March of 2016 coming in first place out of 35 New Jersey teams. This is their third consecutive state championship and fourth state championship overall.

The 2015­-16 AcDec team is comprised of nine students:  Seniors Anne Cheng and Nikita Kolotov, juniors Will Chen, Miki Hansen, Rohan Khajuria and Katherine Yang, sophomore Adam Ye and freshmen Hugh Kwong and Joyce David. Team coaches are Nancy Lennon, science teacher and Stacy Cozin, media specialist.
