Superintendent

Parsippany-Troy Hills Township School District Morris County, NJ

The Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Board of Education is looking for a dynamic and engaged educational leader who can build on our District’s substantial success and grow our District-wide culture that focuses on elevating the academic, social, and leadership skills of all our students in each of our fourteen schools.

The Parsippany-Troy Hills Township School District is the largest public school district by enrollment in Morris County. Located in the heart of the County and encompassing 25 square miles, Parsippany-Troy Hills Township boasts a suburban and semi-rural feel across its diverse neighborhoods. PTH is consistently ranked as a “Best Place to Live” in New Jersey, and in the nation.

Our school district’s guiding lights are embedded in the goals of our strategic plan, which are to design student-centered learning opportunities that require active student engagement and an authentic connection to real-life experiences, and to support social emotional awareness, mental health, and physical health, so that all can flourish, demonstrate empathy, and celebrate the diversity of all.

We are proud of our STEM and Visual/Performing Arts programming, our robust athletic and extra-curricular opportunities, and our partnerships with local colleges and universities which allow our students to gain college credits and guaranteed college admission. Ninety-three percent of the students in our expansive, economically, and culturally diverse student body attend college after graduation.

Our District educates ~7200 students, operates with a budget of approximately $183M and comprises ten elementary schools, two middle schools (grades 6-8) and two high schools. We employ a staff of 794 certificated and 650 non-certificated professionals, with 7 central office administrators, 14 building principals and 10 assistant principals, 5 supervisors and managers, and 12 coordinating supervisors. A nine-member elected Board of Education hires and annually evaluates the Superintendent.

The Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Superintendent of Schools must be an exceptional communicator, with the capacity to inspire all stakeholders under a common vision of excellence for our students. He or she must recognize and support our accomplished and dedicated administrators and staff, and work with our parents and families as essential partners in the educational experience of PTHSD students. She or he should have demonstrated success as an educational leader in a multi-faceted school district, along with successful working relationships with local elected and municipal officials, public safety officials, and civic groups. Service in a culturally and economically diverse district is a plus.

NJ School Administrator certificate or CE required; experience as an Assistant Superintendent or equivalent-level experience required; Superintendent experience strongly preferred. Successful classroom teaching at the primary and/or secondary level(s) required.
